WELCOME TO THE GUITAR SUMMIT 2008
Hello
and welcome to the Guitar Summit web pages. My name is Steve Groves. I've been playing guitar all of my life and
sharing music and ideas along the way.
Every year as I’m driving home at the conclusion of our guitar camp,
I always have this feeling of great satisfaction, having just spent several days in the company of so many talented aspiring
guitarists, and such inspiring teachers as Jon Damian and Jake Langley. I know our guitar students feel the same way,
with so many returning to the Guitar Summit multiple times.
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
We’ve moved the camp’s location to The Orford Arts Center, nestled in the wooded mountains of the Eastern Townships
of Quebec. Located just over an hour’s drive from Montreal, in a unique setting at the entrance to the Mont-Orford Provincial
Park, the Orford Arts Center is more than an internationally renowned Academy of Music, it is a cultural destination and a
unique setting.
We have also expanded
to five days this year. Semi-private rooms with private bathroom are provided. Three delicious meals prepared from the Academy’s
kitchen are all included.

Another
expansion to this years Guitar Summit is the addition of rock guitar classes for the aspiring rockers out there. Considering
that Jon Damian has taught some of the top modern guitarists such as James Valentine of Maroon 5 and Wayne Krantz of Steely
Dan, I’d say come on and see why these guys love Jon so much.
I’m
also happy to welcome back Jake Langley again this year. Jake’s had a busy year with his trio as well as tours
with Joey DeFrancisco, Vanessa Rodrigues, and numerous festivals and clinics including new video’s from Mike’s
Master Class. Jake’s guitar can be heard nightly at 6 PM as the theme to Katie Maloch’s “TONIC” on
CBC's Radio 2
Basically, we are all musicians and guitar is our instrument. At the Guitar
Summit the teachers and students play, discuss, teach, learn and share ideas and insights that will enable all of us
to continually explore and discover our musical potential in the vast world of harmony, melody and rhythm, especially on our
little orchestra, the guitar.
