Arrangements for family members or friends may be made with the addition of room and meal expenses. Have your entire band members attend and receive a package discount.

Below are several letters with the types of questions people have been asking, along with my answer.

Hi Steve,

Greetings from down in Charleston, South Carolina!

I'm looking to attend a jazz guitar camp this Summer, and I found yours on line. I didn't choose the path of attending music school in my youth, but I've been playing for many years, and since passing my mid 50's, I have been trying to put less emphasis on business and buckle down and make some real progress on jazz guitar.

I went to the guitar camp at Interlochen last Summer and studied with Howard Alden and Gene Bertoncini. I am currently working hard with Jimmy Bruno's on line guitar institute.

I don't know much about the Guitar Summit, other than what I can read on the website, but the thing that attracts me most is the quality of playing that I heard on the YouTube clips of you and Jon and Jake. The feel and musicianship is most impressive.

What can you tell me about the camp that might help me make up my mind if his is for me? (and are there still openings?)

Thanks for your time,

David

Hello David,

Nice to hear from you today. Thanks for the compliment on our playing.

The location of this years Guitar Summit is at the Mount Orford Arts Center, about 1 hour east of Montreal, Canada.  I guess one of the main things that seperates us from other camps, as far as I can tell, is that the instructors at the summit are available at all times.  We are passionate about our music and love to share our experience and expertise.  We prepare many handouts and introduce you to new concerts to ponder and play.  My personal strength lies in chord soloing, (Wes Montgomery influenced) which involves specific knowledge that I reveal in an article that I have written especially for the guitar summit.

Jon's book "The Chord Factory" also deals with this vast sea of harmony and how to find it on the guitar.  This will give you the knowledge one needs to search out and build your own chord dictonary, a project that will give you a lifetime if pleasure.

Jake is a monster player and soloist, and teacher and all around nice guy.  We are all there and available for the week.  We play from morning to midnight, and have three rounds of formal classes a day, and time for private abd small group lessons.

I could go on, but I think you have a good picture of what happens.... guitar...guitar...guitar

I look forward to meeting you. Also, feel free to give me a call at 1-866-319-5754 Dave.

Please leave a message if I'm not here as I travel a lot and check my messages frequently.

Thanks again,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking into attending the camp and checking into
flights vs. driving, etc. Do you have lots of people signed up so far?

On housing, could I arrive the day before and/or stay a day or so later and how
much extra for a private room?

If my wife wanted to come, is there much to do/see locally, such as walk/hike,
etc? She has no interest in anything to do with the camp, but would need to
entertain herself elsewhere. She is pretty much into fitness and so walking
trails would be a big plus. She probably won't come, but I did want to ask her
and see what there would be to do.

I am excited about the level of musicianship between you and Jon and Jake. I
have listened to some of Jake's recordings and love what he does too.

Thanks,
David

Can you tell me what internet access there will be…if it is in the rooms or in a common area wi fi or whatever? I’ll have to be checking my business emails while I am out of town.
David
